BYOD argument

This week we have been writing arguments. This is my Bring Your Own Device argument

Dear Board of Trustees

I am unsure about Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) at Nelson Central School. BYOD is when kids can bring in their own device. E.g IPADs laptops IPOD touches so kids can play educational games on them.

Reasons for BYOD is that you can get educational games on IPADs laptops and tablets. So kids will be amused and enjoy learning. For example some educational games I like playing are the games on multiplication.com.  Half of the kahikatea syndicate wanted BYOD at NCS. Thirdly if every child were to have one device at NCS it would cost the school over $300,000. This is a lot of money.

Secondly you can use the internet on laptops and IPADs.Kids can go on the blog and research stuff for homework. Most of our class like playing maths games on the IPAD. So I think It would be really good for kids to bring their own device to NCS.

However some reasons against BYOD is people could steal your device. And you might not have enough money to pay for it. Also your parents might not want you to play on a screen for hours. Lastly It might not be fair on other people if they don’t have a device and others do.

In conclusion I am unsure about BYOD at NCS. It helps kids learn but if it breaks it will cost a lot money. I hope you talk about this in the future.

Kind regards

Ed Room 5 NCS
